How to Become an Efficient Teacher - Your Guide to Becoming Successful Teacher
By:Rakesh Ramubhai Patel

A teacher plays vital role in shaping the mind-set of society and therefore, to become an efficient and successful one is equally important. Here are some basic guidelines for becoming the one that our society can take pride for.

Teaching is a systematic presentation of ideas, skills and techniques to students. The entire educational system is much focused on imparting the knowledge. And the best teachers alone can do this job effectively. Therefore, teacher training is very much required.

Education involves training in terms of physical and rational development. And anyone who aids other person in learning can be considered as teacher. If you intend to be a powerful teacher, then you need to have special skills to demonstrate your knowledge of the subjects you wish to teach.

Training of teachers can take place in many ways. You can learn some teaching methods by yourself. But there are many academic institutions that offer teacher training. One of such first government-sponsored school established in France in 1794. It was the first one to follow the principles of Jean-Jacques Rousseau. He believed that teachers should concern primarily with the mental and physical development of their pupils and the subject matters should be the secondary objective.

This principle has been getting implemented gradually in a number of teacher-training schools all over the world. It was Swiss educational reformer Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi who applied the pedagogical theories of Rousseau. The teacher training in Britain offers a B. Ed. degree or specialist study after standard university education, the Postgraduate Certificate of Education. Teaching has become today an international activity where knowledge is freely exchanged across borders.

Therefore, to have proficiency in teaching profession, you should learn how to translate your knowledge and experience into positive experimentations. Keep an eye on students to know their strengths and weaknesses. If children are weak in something, help them improve them. And if some of them are brilliant, don't forget to motivate them. This will help them revive their interest in further learning. Please remember that training of mind and body both are essential in overall development of children.
