By:Jurinsthea Smith

Perhaps having some second careers for retired teachers is something and old mentors would like to have. However, due to the factor of age and physique finding and getting one might be pretty difficult. Hence, some teachers of ours are hesitant to look for one afraid of being not accepted and turned down.

However, in spite of the odds there is still that slim probability that you can really get a job. Nevertheless, you must be extra careful since your current situation is already fragile enough that might compromise your body in the process. If you are eager to find out here are some questions you need to ask before even getting some second careers for retired teachers.

Question 1: Can your body carry the workload? It is important to first consider your physical condition if you are still capable to work. As much as possible assess your physique if given a workload it can still be able to handle it. It is even advisable to ask for your doctor's consent and assessment if you can still be able to work. If they have given you a go signal then by all means find a job that is easier and requires a portion of your time. As much as possible do not pursue full time jobs because it might drain you and your energy as well.

Question 2: What is the job? The next big question that you need to ask would be to identify the kind of job you would be pursuing. Since you are a teacher before, it would be recommended that you also pursue another teaching profession. As such, you will only have little adjustments with regards to your new work. If you are considering getting another field of career, it would be important that you will foresee the need to train yourself on a new profession. This might take time and even effort in putting it all together. Thus, make sure the job is something that you already know and you are capable of learning all over again.

Question 3: Do you really want to work? The period of retirement is supposed to be a time that one would relax and free himself or herself from work. This is a time where you need to spend more for your family and in taking care of yourself. Thus, it is necessary to look at this side even for a moment. Since you have been working for that long, might as well consider taking a break from working and just enjoy.
