Well, I haven't seen a government survey, but I have been in education for more than 30 years. I have seen several teachers leave the field. Some go into real estate or banking. Others start their own businesses, or go into the family business. One is actually a relatively successful author. A few have gone back to school and become lawyers, nurses, or doctors. A few stay in teaching, but move into the administrative roles, college level teaching, or teaching in another country for the travel experience. A very few have been able to stay home and raise families, at least for a few years.
