In Response To: That Cute Li'l Ol' Apostrophe (Sharon Jacobsen)

When explaining why the contraction for the word little (li'l) has only one apostophe, the article states: "We never use more than one apostrophe to a word." Of course, there are exceptions to every general rule, such as the contraction for the word forecastle (fo'c'sle in Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary or fo'c's'le in Oxford Pocket Dictionary of Current English).
