Homeschool Materials In A Song
By:Mary Joyce

Homeschool materials are indeed everywhere. In fact, one of best learning tools you can use as a homeschooling parent is making use of songs. Think of it…. Does it not amaze you to this day when you hear on of your favorite songs come on the radio and as soon as the lyrics begin you can jump right in and sing along even though you perhaps haven’t heard this song in months or even years! Learning through lyric and rhyme is very powerful stuff!

With some careful searching you can come up with many songs, lyrics, and rhymes that fit well with your homeschool lesson plan or unit study. Some sites even have theme related songs which are fantastic to add to your homeschooling materials and supplies! Even if you don’t find a particular great match for what you may be teaching at the time…. Write you own. Yes, with a little practice, you can not only write your own songs… over time you’ll be surprised just how good you can become.

Take any of the traditional children’s song and modify them to meet your needs. This is a fun exercise for both you and your child and the benefits to this type of reading, recognizing sounds, and retentive memory is unbeatable. Soon you’ll have your child want to write and sing their own versions of songs that they come up with for the home school class!

Song and singing is such a great way to teach your child and it’s fun, relaxing and many times a much needed break from the studying at hand.

Turn your creativity and imagination loose and have fun…… whistle while you work!
