You are right arrogant one.

May I add also, Asian schools give emphasis only on North American accent. What? The North American accent is not all the time the proper English spoken. Some just mumbled incomprehensibly and use slang not yet accepted in the dictionary. If I sometimes find these people incomprehensible how much more with non-English speaking Asian students, and yet they are the ones favoured. What kind of English will Asian students learn? They want them to speak like North Americans, but when they come home from school, they speak their native language. So, if that is their goal, I don't think anything can be achieved.

I have met several people who have strong accents but can speak English correctly and comprehensibly with correct grammar. Their ideas and thoughts are conveyed clearly and are able to carry out a conversation in English despite that strong accent very identical of their country of origin. I then made a conclusion that accents are part of the persons' origin, a culture, a sort of an identity, a "trademark" if I may say it that way. Why lose such identity and learn an accent not their own. We can not enforce North American, Australian, British, etc. accents to Asian students because they have their own which is part of their culture, their identity. If they really want their children to speak like North Americans, etc., then they should let their children live in those countries from birth. They are assured that they will totally embrace the North American accent, Australian, British, etc. and eradicate completely their own Asian accent.

As an ESL teacher, the one thing important for me is to make my students express their own ideas in English with correct grammar, and to help develop their confidence in expressing those ideas. Once they have the confidence they will feel the complete freedonm to express themselves in English written and spoken regardless of what accent they are using.
