English schools in Asia

Singapore (Bukit Timah Road)
School:Hwa Chong Institution (HCI)

Hwa Chong Institution is the culmination of the watershed merger between the former Chinese High School (founded 1919) and Hwa Chong Junior College (founded 1974) in 2005. With a rich history and a distinguished heritage, the school is constantly venturing into new frontiers. Honed over the years, our sense of enterprise and daring has allowed us the foresight to spot opportunities in the Singapore education landscape.

In 2007, we set up the Hwa Chong-Beijing satellite campus in China. In 2008, Hwa Chong will become the first independent school to pioneer the Future Schools@Singapore initiative. In 2009, we will be implementing the Boarding Programme to develop our students' intellectual, leadership, and personal potential.

A premier independent school in Singapore, HCI has produced 47 President's Scholars to date - the highest number amongst all junior colleges. But Hwa Chong is more than a school that produces top scholars and the very best minds. We also want to empower our high ability students to achieve their potential and live their aspirations, while embracing the values of hard work, integrity, passion, and compassion.

RICH HISTORY & DISTINGUISHED HERITAGE
Founded in 1919 by Mr Tan Kah Kee, The Chinese High School was established to cater to the needs of overseas Chinese primary school leavers in South-east Asia. Today, it is one of the finest educational institutions for high-achievers and the gifted in the region. Its reputation as a premier school is based not only on the academic excellence of the students but also their determination to excel in all other areas like leadership, sports and games, co-curricular activities, science research, and service to the community.
