Miras School is quite a young school and this gives us an opportunity and strength to constantly develop. Process of development applies to all scopes of activity; the number of students has increased over the last 8 years from 72 to 600, and teachers – from 45 to 100. Our alumni (ex-students) have sent their own children to the school. There are grades organized in Kazakh and English taught streams, the school is following the IBDP and IBMYP curricula, and seriously works on integration of Kazakh learning standards. The school is accredited by CIS and NEASC International organizations and so is in accordance with educational standards. There are new buildings for the Primary School and swimming pool, excellent football field with up-to-date artificial covering, etc.

Miras International School was founded by Nursultan Nazarbaev Educational Foundation in September 1999 and offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes integrated with Kazakhstani standards. Miras International School was authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme in 2002. The school was also authorized to offer the IB Middle Years Programme in 2004 and accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges in 2005. Miras is UNESCO associated School.

There is highly qualified staff working as a one team at Miras. Kazakhstani teachers all have the highest or first category according to the local attestation system. 30% of all faculty are overseas hired teachers, all are qualified and experienced in international education.

School enrolment consistently increases year by year. In 2007 about 145 new students were admitted to Miras. Students’ body is the mixed of nationalities from 37 different countries.

In Primary School more than 50% of curriculum is taught in English. Languages of instructions for students in Pre-school, Kindergarten and Grades 1-4 are Kazakh and Russian. And in 2007-2008 only Russian is language of instructions in the Grade 5.

The Middle school program (Grades 6-10) is taught in two streams in Russian and English.

The IB Diploma Program, comprising the last two years of instruction, is taught exclusively in English.

The school is in a good locality and has excellent facilities and grounds and offers good conditions for physical education and sport (gym, simulators' place, rock climbing wall, outside sports grounds, football field with modern covering surface, swimming pool, tennis courts). The campus facilities include modern science and computer laboratories with access to the Internet. Specialized facilities include areas designated for art, music, drama and dance. The school has a greenhouse for the curriculum to focus on ecology and conservation of recourses.

Comprehensive two libraries with adequate research stations are provided, along with computers.
