English schools in Asia

Tajikistan - Dushanbe
School:QSI International School of Dushanbe

QSI International School of Dushanbe, a non profit institution that opened in August 2004, offers high quality education in the English language for pre-school (beginning at age three years), and elementary students (through the age of 13 years). An enrollment of approximately 15 students is projected for the 2004-2005 school year.

The school occupies a large and beautiful, traditional home in a guarded, walled compound, conveniently located within the city. There are six heated/cooled classrooms. There is also a library/lunchroom and areas, inside and outside, for recreational purposes.

The school's educational philosophy, which includes a personalized approach to instruction, leads to teaching for mastery. We believe in success for all students. We seek to create a positive learning environment since we believe a child learns more if he enjoys his learning experience.

THE PRIMARY PURPOSE of the school is to meet the needs of the children in Dushanbe who require this type of education with a view to continuing their education in their home countries with a minimum of adjustment problems. In addition to its scholastic goals, the school endeavors to provide its students with knowledge of Tajikistan.

THE CURRICULUM includes English (reading, grammar, composition, and spelling), Mathematics, Cultural Studies (history, geography), Science (physical, life, and earth), Art, Music, and Physical Education as part of the regular program. Intensive English classes are offered to students who need additional help with English. Computer use is integrated across the curriculum. The school seeks to provide students with an appreciation for the rich culture and history of Tajikistan. Materials and equipment are up to date and of high quality. Class sizes are small. Native English speaking experienced teachers are employed.
