Hello,

I will soon finish my contract teaching English in Shantou, Southern China and will travel after that for about 12 days, eventually making my way to Beijing from where I will return to Canada.

I am a professional opera singer and was wondering if any of you know if there are opera companies or classical music organizations (orchestras) in the bigger Chinese cities such as Shanghai and Beijing that I could audition for. I tried a google search and got the information that they have opera companies in Beijing and Shanghai, but I want to find the names of the directors to contact them personally for an audition. Could you give me any advice on how to find these people?
I would like do some networking before I leave, as I believe that there could be great future opportunities for me if I return to China to combine my teaching skills and maybe get the chance to do some concerts...I have no idea how this works and if there are "politics" involved.

Any comments, help or suggestions would be appreciated.
