Travel, Teach, Live in China
Hey Paul in Hebei,
Maybe those are just your students. I teach in Zhejiang at a middle school. I have over 3000 students. Although all of my students learn from English books and tapes the majority by far like the sound of American English. Not the accented versions but the stuff you see on the Teli like news and sprots casters. I am not American but can tell you that British English has just as many if not more variations of there English. Just travelling from one side on England to the other you may find many different accents and slang terms that no one can understand. Wake up man! This is English. It sounds like you just hate Bush and hey that's ok I don't care for the guy too much either. But I think you need to look into things a little more.
