Guangdong Ocean University (GDOU), formerly Zhanjiang Ocean University, is a 70-year-old comprehensive university supported and sponsored as a keystone university by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, the People's Republic of China.

It is located in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, with a total area of 345 hectares, consisting of four beautiful campuses of different functions and features. It boasts 18 faculties or colleges, with 56 undergraduate programs and 15 graduate programs altogether, and a current enrollment of 22,600 native and international students.

GDOU simultaneously strives to be one of the most outstanding undergraduate universities and the leading research University of Ocean Studies in the world as well as in Guangdong Province and the country.As a teaching and research university,it seeks to achieve the highest levels of distinction in its commitment to undergraduate teaching, graduate education, discovery and transmission of knowledge and skills.

The Foreign Affairs Office (FAO)of Guangdong Ocean University was established in June,2004, formerly known as the Foreign Affairs Office of Zhanjiang Ocean University. It is a combination of the FAO and the Office for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs which was set up in January, 2005. As an administrative unit that represents GDOU in handling international affairs, FAO has two affiliated sections: Section for International Exchange & Cooperation and Section for International Staff & Students Affairs.

FAO is proudly committed to the purpose of supporting the University's mission by providing a quality international platform for academic exchange, scientific cooperation, cultural communication, introduction of foreign intellectual resources, and international students enrollment & education (including students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), as well as all related services.
