Changsha Medical University (CSMU) was founded by the famous educator Mr. He Binsheng. It is situated in Changsha, capital of Hunan Province. CSMU is under the jurisdiction of Hunan People’s Government and the professional guidance of the Department of Public Health of the government.

Changsha Medical University has an area of over 1260 mu (84 hectares), with the general assets of 2.3 billion Yuan (RMB). The floorage covers 565 thousand square meters. It has a school population of 17000 and a staff of 1029, of which 638 are full-time teachers and administrators, 533 with associate or full professor’s academic titles, 349 with master’s degree and 52 with doctoral degree. The university offers 13 specialties for undergraduates and 14 for junior college students. Among those specialties, 9 are medical, including Clinical Medicine (M.B.B.S) (English Medium), Stomatology (BDS), Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Public Health, Pharmacy, Traditional Chinese Medical Science (TCM), Acupuncture, Moxibustion & Tuina, Medical Imaging; 3 are of liberal arts -- English, Business Administration(BBA), Marketing; and 1 of engineering, namely, Computer Science and Technology. CSMU consists of 12 faculties and 56 teaching & research sections, with one province-level priority program as well as one demonstrative lab of the provincial level.
