The Chatteris Educational Foundation is a registered non-profit charitable organisation in Hong Kong. Its primary goals are:
To help students improve their English
To aid young people’s development
To promote cultural exchange and global awareness
The School Programme
Chatteris offers a variety of school programmes and services. The School Programme aims to improve the standard of English in Hong Kong schools and to promote cultural exchange. A summary of the programmes offered is shown below (each programme is specifically tailored to the needs and objectives of the school):
English Enhancement Programme: placement of full-time Chatteris Native-Speaking English Tutors (CNETs) into schools to deliver programmes to enrich the English language environment and the school curriculum
Saturday Co-curricular English Programme: designed to supplement the school curriculum and allow students to enhance their English fluency in a specific area of interest
Curriculum and Staff Development Services: consultancy, seminars, workshops and courses to help teachers to develop school-based English curriculum
The Community Programme
As a non-profit organization Chatteris is committed to development and implementation of programmes that allow us to make a direct and practical contribution to the Hong Kong community. Volunteers (both local and from native English speaking countries) give their time and effort without charge to benefit the local community in a variety of ways. This includes the Chatteris Office Programme, the Social Welfare Department and Correctional Services Department programmes, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Programme and working with the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups.
