Changchun American International School opened the doors of its new start-of-the-art school building in June, 2007. The facility, capable of serving over 200 students from pre-kindergarten through high school, features a highly artistic design, exceptional technological capabilities, indoor gardens, web-broadcasting capabilities, and highly specialized classrooms.

Changchun American International School is now an IBO Diploma Program World School.

Changchun American International School (CAIS) is the first K-12 international school to be approved by the Jilin Provincial Government, and was established to meet the educational needs of international students, preparing them for success and fulfilled lives among the challenges and opportunities of the 21st Century.

The school is located in the north east of China, in Changchun, Jilin Province. Changchun is one of the leading auto manufacturing cities in China, with a strong representation of foreign auto manufacturers. The population of Changchun is between 6 and 7 million, 10 percent of which are of Korean origin. Currently, over 12 nationalities are represented by staff and teachers at CAIS.

CAIS is currently an International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) Primary Years Program interested school, an IBO Middle Years Candidate School, and an IBO Diploma Program Candidate School.

The school also offers Mandarin to all grades, and has the capacity to teach Korean, German, Spanish and Russian. ESL and sheltered content courses are available to limited English students. Class sizes at present do not exceed 15 students per class, with most classes at less than 9 students, creating an ideal student/teacher ratio. The school is also developing a Model United Nations club, with the possibility of participation in MUN Events in Singapore and/or Taiwan in 2008-2009.
