Yunnan Normal University is a key normal university under the administration of Yunan Province. Located in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, it has a long history and good traditions.

Yunnan Normal University occupies an area of 2,680 mu, and its buildings have a floor space of 470,000 square meters. The total worth of its equipment has reached 125,000,000 yuan. The university library has a collection of 2,418,000 volumes and subscribes to 7,333 periodicals, both national and international.

The University consists of 21 teaching units, 31 research institutes, one key laboratory of renewable energy, one inspection center for solar energy water-heaters, and one key laboratory of rural energy engineering in Yunnan province. The University has one doctoral program and 53 undergraduate specialties. It is entitled to confer master’s degrees in 5 Level I and 70 Level II academic disciplines. It is also a teaching unit for experiments in professional master’s degree in Educational Studies and for training on-post college teachers for master’s degrees.

At present, Yunnan Normal University has 2,132 teaching and administrative staff, including 205 full professors, 362 associate professors, 122 teachers with PhD degrees (Another 88 teachers are pursuing doctoral degrees.), and 515 teachers with master’s degrees. Those with doctoral or master’s degrees make up 56.2% of the entire faculty.
