School:Wenzhou University (WZU)

Founded in 1933, Wenzhou University is now a comprehensive university with a multi-discipline structure covering social science, humanities, science, engineering and business through years of development.

WZU presently sets up 20 colleges, the specialities cover five disciplines such as social sciences, humanities, science, engineering, business and so on. There are 4 key disciplines of provincial level, 20 disciplines of master’s degree authorization.

There are 23700 full-time enrolled students, 2180 teaching and administrative staff with 1420 professional teachers, 183 professors, 393 associate professors, 185 Doctors and 201 of them are titled provincial or municipal leading academics.

Laboratories: There are 27 experiment centers in all---one provincial-level lab, one provincial demonstration center of experimental teaching and one municipal-level lab.

Library: The library houses 1.59million volumes and 560,000 electronic books.

WZU is qualified for the enrollment of international students. It is one of the first group of Chinese teaching-base. WZU is open-minded in collaboration with foreign universities and has established friendly and cooperative relation-ships with institutions in USA, Canada, Britain, the Netherlands, Japan, Korea and Ukraine. In recent years, we have carried out exchange programs for teachers and students and some joint scientific researches successfully.

ABOUT WENZHOU
WZU is located in the beautiful and prosperous city of Wenzhou in Zhejiang Province. Wenzhou is a coastal city in the south-eastern part of China; it is the economic and cultural center as well as the transportation hub of the southern region of Zhejiang province, with Shanghai and Hangzhou to its north, Fujian and Guangdong to its south. The two main campuses of WZU are situated in Wenzhou’s Chashan University Town, an area surrounded by green mountains and blue rivers.

Wenzhou is a prefecture-level city with a population of about 770,000 in southeastern Zhejiang province. It borders Lishui to the west, Taizhou to the north, and looks out to the East China Sea to the east.

Sprawling along the coast in southeastern Zhejiang Province, the city of Wenzhou is the economic, cultural, and communications center in southern Zhejiang. It has been a principal trading port in China since the Tang Dynasty and is a renowned hometown of many outstanding overseas Chinese. The city is famous for its commerce, handicrafts, arts and crafts. The numerous scenic spots and places of historic interest make the city a tourist center in southern Zhejiang. Two of the remarkable scenic spots around Wenzhou are the Yandang Mountain and the Nanxi River.

It is also known for its emigrants who leave their native land for Europe and the United States, with a reputation for being enterprising folk who start restaurants, retail and wholesale businesses in their adopted countries.
