Yichun University (YU) is located in Yichun City of Jiangxi Province, where Cofucianism and classical learning have been prosperous in Tang and Song Dynasties. The cultural tradition brought up a wealth of talents, such as Song Yingxing, a science pioneer in Ming Dynasty and Wu Youxun, a distinguished modern physicist, who bring glories to the city.

The new school covers 1,250 square metres, which is constructed by high standard. After 4 years’ construction, a modern garden-like campus appears in Jiangxi. It is located at the foot of a mountain and alongside a river. Now, there are more than 19,779 full-time registered and adult students, and1,000 staff members, 633 of whom are teachers (including 233 full or associate professor, 10 specialists entitled to State Funds and 17 Provincial Subject Leaders or Backbone Teachers )

YU is made up of 11 faculties. They are School of Humanities, School of Science, School of Engineering, School of Agriculture, School of Medicine, School of Business and Law, School of Foreign Languages Studies, School of Physical Education, School of Art, School of Adult Education, and School of Vocational and Technical Education.

Creativity, Development and Reform is the motto of YU. The university successfully raised enough money for the construction of the campus in the financial market, optimized the structure of specialities to meet the needs of the labor market, and paid attention to the technique creativity and research reform. Therefore, It takes on a new look now. “New Anti-Hepatitis-virus medicine----ursolic acid and its preparation research and development” is one of the “863” plans, the national scientific research plans, and takes the lead in its fields. Meanwhile, the research program is regulated by market mechanism, which helps to make the scientific research and development market-oriented in the future. The science research has entered a highly developing period in YU since 2000. The faculty members have published over 1,520 academic papers, 37translations or textbooks, and have undertaken 81 provincial scientific researches.
