Welcome to Tsinghua Experimental School in Shenzhen (TESS) a comprehensive school, from Grade 1 to 12.

TESS’s offers English language instruction to primary and middle school students. One of the most prestigious schools in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, TESS currently has a team of 17 international staff and continues to grow.

With innovative programs and a results-based curriculum, TESS offers students progressive courses, and its staff a state-of-the-art facility to work and grow. TESS was established in 2001 in connection with China’s premiere post-secondary institution, Tsinghua University. Since then it has grown to more than 6000 students.

PROGRAMS - TESS offers two distinct English programs:

Language Center
This is the biggest English program at TESS. Most international teachers are assigned to the Language Center. Each teacher is responsible for five classes that meet on a daily basis. The classes are composed of students from Years 1 to 7 and follow a textbook-based syllabus. Teachers are given a free hand as to how to conduct their classes.

Ample supplies and course materials are available. The premise of the Language Center program is to expose students to an English-speaking environment where they have to rely solely on the international teacher. This is different than most Chinese schools. Review classes by Chinese teachers are scheduled on a regular basis. The international teacher has to administer and mark tests, and complete regular student reports.

International School Section
Students from Hong Kong, Korea, and Europe are part of this unique department. Some have knowledge of basic English while others are nearly fluent. Classes range from primary to middle school and are generally smaller. International staff are selected based on experience.
