Eric, I'd start with nouns then move to pronouns and 'to be' verbs along with some easy action verbs. You'll need dictionaries for this.

Next, move to noun-to-pronoun conversions, and person/POV. Finally, put these lessons together in simple present-tense sentences. This should keep any class busy for a few weeks.

Past and future tenses, verb spelling rules, and adjectives/adverbs/prepositions could be future rungs on your semester ladder. It sounds like you'll be having a lot of fun in the months ahead.
