Developing Students' Listening Skills and Comprehension

I am trying to find ways to integrate music. I do cloze activities with songs I play but I want to find other ways of doing listening comprehension. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Carl

Thank you for a great question. In addition to using music, I would suggest that you also include showing American Movies such as Tom Hanks You’ve Got Mail, Robin Williams Mrs. Doubtfire, Eddie Murphy’s Doctor Doolittle, and other current release films to your students. What I would do is to create a vocabulary list of words and phrases to give to students prior to showing the movie, and then while showing the film, stop it periodically to discuss the vocabulary words and to discuss what is happening. Adding this additional strategy of using movies to develop Listening Comprehension will help your students have fun in Learning English.
