Here is a suggestion to help parents assist their child in learning English:

Parents need to read, read, read and read to their child everyday in English. If the child is just learning English, parents can start off using picture books and asking the child to tell them about the pictures. This will help the child start to develop their own vocabulary. If the child is at the basic level, then parents need to get beginning English books that have pictures and simple sentences, and have the child read the sentence to the parent after the parent has read it to the child.

Another way that Parents can help their child to read is to take them to a local library and get the child a library card so the child can take out books and practice reading them at home with their parents
