Career Change in the New Year! Make It Great in 2008!
By:Christina Carpentier

It is December and the time of year where we all know the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season starts pulling us in directions that we may not even want to go, but sometimes feel we have no choice. There are Company Holiday parties, neighborhood parties, Holiday performances etc. etc. If we are unhappy with our job situation these activities can be very burdensome. So, if you have decided that you really want to create a career change in the New Year, this is the time to start pushing the pedal to the metal, if you get my drift!

Lots of people will be taking less time to look at their career changes, because they will have the mentality, "Oh, I will just wait until the New Year, there is too much going on in December!" If you are one who is thinking that way, you need to shift that thinking immediately. Many who think this way are losing opportunities, so if you are one who does not have that attitude, there are even more opportunities out there for you.

Many companies that have "open positions", like to have their "new hires" hired by early January. So there are plenty of opportunities to interview in the month of December. I strongly suggest that if you have not gotten your resume and cover letter in good shape, that you get that done right away. I can not emphasize how critical it is for you to be successful in your career change by having a resume and cover letter that will blow people's socks off! Resumes and cover letters are what get your foot in the door for interviews. So, if your resume and cover letter are not what you think of as "stellar", the shift coach suggests that you do something about it!

It is also a good time to "hone in" and practice your interview skills. So many people who are looking for jobs, do not have a clue about getting into "interview shape." Interviewing is a game that you have to master, to win at. Many people do not realize that. You can make it fun, if you shift your perspective. I can use my Shift Assistâ„¢ coaching techniques and help you drastically improve and drastically improve your interview skills and help you shine in your interviews, too.
