Simple present tense is used to represent the doings done as routinely daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or in some periodically. This tense is also used in making or giving an order or a command or an idea both in question and answer forms.

The auxiliaries used in this tense are DO and DOES.

I, WE, YOU, THEY, HE, SHE, IT-are the subjects in a sentence.

In those sentences with I, WE, YOU, or THEY-as a subject DO is the auxiliary. The verb will not change in its form. But those sentences with HE, SHE, or IT as subject, the auxiliary will be DOES and the verb with it.

See some examples,

USE OF "DO".

1. I DO go to office.

We can express this sentence as I Go to office. DO, the auxiliary is hidden in the verb.

2. WE DO leave the home.

This sentence can be expressed as WE LEAVE the home today.

3. You DO drink water.

We should say this as You DRINK water.

4. They DO attend the class.

We should say this as They ATTEND the class.

USE OF "DOES".

1. He DOES run on the road.

We should express this as He RUNS on the road.

2. She DOES bath inside.

We should express this as She BATHES now.

3. The dog DOES eat its food.

We should express this as The dog EATS its food.

USE OF SIMPLE PRESENT IN QUESTIONS:

Questions with I, WE, YOU, and THEY as subjects:

1. DO I come with you?

Yes, you DO come or Yes, you come.

2. DO you help me?

No, I DO NOT help you.
Yes, I DO help you or Yes, I help you.

3. DO we NEED to do it?

Yes, You do need to do it or Yes, you need to do it.
No, You do not need.

4. DO they work for this shift?

Yes, they WORK for this shift.
No. they DO NOT WORK for this shift.

Questions with HE, SHE, or IT:

1. DOES he come with us?

Yes, he COMES.
No, he DOES NOT COME.

2. DOES she sing well?

Yes, she DOES sing well or Yes, she SINGS well.
No, she DOES not sing well or No, she DOES NOT SING well.

3. DOES the lion roar regularly?

Yes, it DOES ROAR regularly.
No, it DOES NOT ROAR regularly.

USE OF "HAVE" AS A VERB:

In simple present tense, HAVE is also used as a verb. HAVE is an auxiliary actually, but we can use it as a verb also along with DO. DO+have is equal to HAS.

See some examples in questions and answers:

1. What DO you HAVE in your pocket?

I HAVE hundred rupees in my pocket.

2. DOES she HAVE any properties?

She HAS no properties.
She DOES not HAVE any properties.

NOTE: We can omit DO in command forms of sentences when using simple present tense. Examples: You come here. You sit down. You carry on.
