There are more than 101 ways for students learning English to hone their ability to speak the language! Practice is one of the many ways to get you speaking. Speak as much English as possible just like a child learning his first words. You will find that some English speaking activities a child does are actually fun and it will allow you to naturally speak the language.

Here are some suggested daily activities:

Talk the walk. If you heard this before, I mean it literally this time. Start your day with English. As you wake up each morning, think of a phrase or a sentence that describes how you feel that morning. As you are going to brush your teeth, say it loud, "I am going to brush my teeth." Continue until you get to school or to your office. You will find it fun and your friends may join you in your simple activity.

Say a little story in English. As you have lunch with your colleagues or classmates, say a story in English. It may be something that happened on your way to work or an event over the weekend. Your friends may be surprised but they will join into the conversation you are trying to make! You may do this everyday - from your waking moment until you prepare for a nightcap.

Write a journal about how your day has gone and ended. Read a lot and read it out aloud, more for your benefit than for others who may be listening.

When you read an English book and find a word which is new for you, look for its meaning and use it as much as possible. If you have heard your friend utter a new word, do the same thing and put it in use the very next moment you have the chance! You may write it in your journal as well.

You can do these activities for a month or two and evaluate how well you have developed over time. Keep on practicing. Join online English chat rooms or enroll in an online English course which addresses your specific needs. You will be surprised at how well you are benefited. Make your learning fun and enjoyable. Mimic the way a child learns new things and just like the child engages herself in English speaking activities, so do you.
