Learning a new language like English can be challenging because of each language's complexity and individual characteristics. Because English is widely spoken in many parts of the world, it is often a popular language for people to learn. With basic knowledge of the language, along with good study techniques and daily practice, you can gradually improve your English skills and confidence in speaking it.

Simple Vocabulary
English learners should not attempt to use complex vocabulary if they are not sure about its usage. Instead, you should use simple and easy words that are easy to understand. Using vocabulary that you are familiar with improves your confidence in your speaking abilities.

Short Sentences
Keep your sentences short and to the point. Long sentences can become complicated and make it difficult for the listener to understand.

Correct Pronunciation
To improve your language, take note of the correct pronunciation and practice it. Record your voice while you read a book and then listen to it. You must be able to understand yourself easily. If not, practice your pronunciation.

Lose the Accent
If you have a heavy accent, an easy way to lose it is by trying to sing like your favorite singer. Concentrate on the singing, and sooner or later you will begin to lose the accent.

Difficult Sounds
Identify sounds or words that you find difficult while speaking English. Some sounds may be particularly challenging for you. Write down such words and read them aloud on a daily basis until you get them right.

Practice Daily
Practice makes a man perfect. Thus, practice on a daily basis with friends and relatives. Ask them to focus on your vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and style of speaking. When reading, read aloud so that you can hear yourself and find your problem areas.

Media and TV
Practice by watching TV and listening to the radio. Watch and listen to English channels. Pay close attention to the pronunciations of the speaker. Watch an English movie DVD with subtitles to help you compare written words to their correct pronunciations. This is definitely more enjoyable than learning through books. Keep a dictionary with you. Whenever you hear a new word, immediately check its meaning.
