Dear Director,

My name is Jennifer Melendez and all my life I've loved learning, meeting new people, and traveling the world. I believe teaching English abroad can fulfill all of these aspirations. I have a passion for reading and writing, and with that comes a love of grammar. I am a California State University, Fullerton alumni. I've worked both on campus and in the hospitality industry. I enjoy jobs that allow me to connect with people. I've been out of school for a year and I'm excited for an opportunity to get back in the classroom. I'm confident in my ability to adapt to any situation. My objective is to teach students of any age with a basic understanding of English preferred.

My idea of a perfect teacher is someone who is patient, kind, prepared and passionate about their work. A successful teacher is also dynamic and adaptable to any student or classroom situation. My approach is to be adaptable to each student's individual learning styles by preparing a variety of material, for multiple levels of English speaking ability. I'll begin each class with an activity; using media with age appropriate, English content (newspaper articles, world news, other imagery) with relevance to the day's over all lesson thread.

I currently work as a bartender. What I love most about my job is getting to know guests of various backgrounds and cultures. Compassion is one of my strengths and my approachable personality has allowed me to blossom in the industry. I believe in being friendly, professional, and helpful in everything that I do. I love sharing ideas and can talk with anyone about anything. I love my job and will bring the same enthusiasm and efficiency to the classroom. I've volunteered in a lab on campus and as a teaching assistant for two years. Standing in front of students, delivering thoughtfully prepared lectures feels natural and I find tutoring very rewarding.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Attached is a copy of my resumeĢ and photo. Feel free to call any day or time. I hope to hear from you!

Sincerely, Jennifer Melendez
