My name is Claire Mc Guigan and I am a 23-year-old female from Ireland. I am the middle child of a family of five with an older brother and a younger sister. We live on a farm just outside of Monaghan town where we breed cows and chickens. Farm life isn’t all glamorous as sometimes I am asked to help out and get my hands dirty.
Currently, I am working in sales and marketing. I am the new Sales and Marketing Manager for a newly launched company which sells unique, handmade, Irish craft to around the world. I have pursued over 40 local crafters for this new business venture whom now make beautiful pieces for me to market and sell on our online platforms.
After work, there is nothing more I love to do than book myself into a class at my local gym. Usually, I attend circuits but I also love weight training, learning new moves and seeing how far my I can push my body.
I graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Multimedia from the prestigious Dublin City University which I thoroughly enjoyed learning new software skills and increasing my skill base in all things technology and media. After handing in my last thesis for my degree, I packed my bags and headed to America for the summer for a J1. I was sent to Missouri in which I was a lifeguard and events coordinator in YMCA of the Ozarks. This experience opened my eyes to appreciating new cultures and truly appreciating the diversity of others. I made friends for life that summer.
With a great interest in learning, I also have so more respect for those who teach. In school I was always in awe of the teacher who put in so much time and effort with their students in order for them to succeed. My experience in teaching began in Transition Year in Secondary School. I went to the Autistic unit in my old primary school. My eyes were open to the different teaching methods and communications skills needed for more challenging students. With each lesson tailored to the students need, my appreciation for teachers grew.
I have currently finished my TEFL qualification to get a better understanding of how to teach English as a foreign language as I would love to combine my passion of travelling and teaching.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” ― Lao Tzu
With this statement I end my cover letter and take the single step to hopefully the experience of a lifetime.
