Work experience
Jan 2017 – Present EFL Teacher, Binh Minh Education, Hanoi, Vietnam
I am currently teaching English as a second language to pre-intermediate and intermediate level students aged between 5-12. I am working in a number of different public schools across Hanoi, with class sizes ranging from 40-60 students. I design and create a range of teaching resources to keep students engaged and enthusiastic about learning English. The resources include, flashcards, worksheets and games all tailored to the ages and abilities of the students.
Nov 2015 – Nov 2016 Community Rehabilitation Support Volunteer, Circles, Plymouth
I provided vital moral support and practical advice for a few key individuals that struggled with integrating into the community. As a small team, we developed pragmatic coping methods for a range of social issues faced by our clients. I was responsible for liaising with social workers, clients and criminal justice professionals to produce comprehensive progress reports. Working closely with community institution representatives I helped to develop lasting functional relationships between clients and established social support networks.
June 2015 – Oct 2016 Marquee Erector, World Inspired Tents, Barnstaple
In this role, I built Nordic style tent tipis with a crew throughout the country. I
was given the responsibility of driving the kit to site requiring me to be solely responsible for loading and load safety whilst on site. I worked long hours as part of a team to ensure high standards of structural integrity and maximise customer satisfaction. I was also entrusted to micro manage a number of younger crew members aiding optimum employee efficiency.
Oct 2014 – May 2015 Student Teaching Volunteer, Wild Patch Project, Plymouth
I contributed to a team of student volunteers that designed, wrote and delivered a series of educational lessons aimed to inspire and educate primary school children about their surrounding natural environment. My sub team and I were responsible for designing and implementing, to deadline, a range of species specific constructions within schools’ gardens to encourage native natural wildlife to inhabit the area. I displayed financial management capability as I was in charge of the budget for the entire project and helped the team to produce the most cost effective innovative creations.
