Dear Director,
My name is Mr. Kai Lamborn and I am very interested in any university level English teaching you have opening. I believe that the following, which outlines my educational background and extensive work experience will be of great interest to you.
In 1987, I was awarded a MA Degree in English, specifically in the Teaching of English as a Second/Foreign Language from San Francisco State University. Since receiving my Master's Degree, I have worked for several colleges and universities in many diverse and unique regions of the world: The United States, the Middle East, and Asia.
I have worked for several community college districts in the United States including Whatcom and Green River Community Colleges in Washington State, and Rio Salado Community College in Arizona teaching a variety of students from Latin America and Asia. During the summer of 2004, I was employed as an adjunct lecturer for Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, Hawaii where I taught a variety of courses during four consecutive contractual sessions. My last position in the United States was classified as a Temporary/Casual EFL Instructor for the winter term only at Angelo State University in Texas and finished in December 2011.
In addition to teaching in the United States, I have extensive experience overseas in Asia and the Middle East. I have worked for institutions such as: Chiang Mai University in Thailand, United Arab Emirates University in the United Arab Emirates, the Ministry of Defense and Aviation in Saudi Arabia, and in associated programs teaching various levels of English composition teaching temporarily for Monash College of Australia in China, the University of Colorado-Denver in China and Nepal, Vietnam National University/Hanoi University of Science, and Buraimi University in Oman.
In addition to teaching ESL/EFL, I have developed and implemented new courses for both standard ESL/EFL skills courses and for English for Specific Purposes, developed supplemental materials for existing courses, been involved in a variety of testing including TOEFL and TOEIC, and have advised on current programs.
These experiences have given the opportunity to work and live among monolingual groups in their home countries and multilingual groups in the United States. These experiences have also provided me a unique insight and understanding into many different groups of people from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. I believe that with these experiences, I would be a definite asset to your program.
As you can see, being semi-retired, I have not worked for the past few years until returning to Chiang Mai University last year (2016) having taught several courses of my chosing and convenience, while looking for a possible full time position lasting the next few years.
If you are interested in my application, please contact me at the email address below as soon as possible.
Resume, references, and documentation are available upon request.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon,
Mr. Kai Lamborn
