Selected Skills and Accomplishments
- Six months of tutoring experience one on one with a visiting foreign PhD. Student (February 2015 – present). Student was an advanced ESL Learner. Tutoring sessions mainly consisted of developing strong conversational English as well as developing a basic knowledge of American Culture through the use of conversational English. Pronunciation exercises were also used to help the student improve on certain sounds used in English that did not exist in his native language.

- Successfully created a full Thematic Unit simulating a full week of lesson plans and teaching materials involving listening, reading and speaking skills. These lessons were geared toward intermediate adult/student learners.

- Developed a 30 minute lesson plan for 5 year old learners complete with a writing activity while enrolled in the optional Young Learners module during the TEFL course.

- Organized a lesson plan for Business English Students seeking the position of a human resources representative when completing the optional Business English module during the TEFL course.

- Participated in an ESL classroom setting.

- Have created additional activities for developing writing, speaking and listening skills (language focused and meaning focused processing) for ESL students for beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels throughout the 200 hour TEFL course. Also received training on how to accommodate all types of learning: aural, visual, read/write, and kinesthetic learning.

- Organized teaching rubric for writing, listening, and speaking activities.

- Worked with children ages 3-11 in a Charter School in New York City at a Spring Break Camp in March of 2013.

- Helped tutor a mentally disabled young adult student in basic algebra and math skills in 2012.

- Participated in a Summer English Camp for children ages 4-12 in Spain, July of 2005.
Additional Skills, Hobbies, and Experiences
- Comfortable with use of computer technology, Power Point, and can type quickly.
- Have taken two Chinese Mandarin courses at State University of New York at Potsdam.
- Took a course in Chinese History while attending State University of New York at Canton.
- Have spent four years overseas living in Turkey, and have traveled to 12 countries.
- Can play the piano and have written and recorded original songs. Have performed in two bands.
- Participated and acted in several theater productions while in high school.
- Volunteered several times to help feed poor and homeless people in New York City with New York School of Urban Ministry, a charitable organization which networks with soup kitchens and other charities within the city.
- Have always enjoyed history, art, and science as school subjects. Love visiting museums and art galleries.
