Formal Education:
Minnesota State University, Bachelor of Arts: Anthropology. May 13th 2005.
Anthropology is a study in Culture, History, Human Biology and Linguistics.
Student of Fuzhou Normal University studying Chinese during 2013-2015.
Completed a student exchange program with Oxford University in England in 2004 during this time I also toured France, Germany, Italy and Austria. Completed a student abroad program in China in 2005. Completed TESOL certificate in 2004.

Completed a University Courses in “Methodology and Teaching of Language”, “Speech Communication” and “Linguistics”. Competed four years in secondary school on the Speech and Debate Competition Team and was team captain for two years.

Relevant Teaching Experience:
I have worked in every level of education in China teaching in Universities, business schools, secondary schools and kindergartens. I have taught full-time higher education schools for 10 years on subjects including oral English, reading, writing and western culture. Prior to coming to China I worked as a teaching assistant for two years in my home university under a scholarship program.

Teaching Methodology:
Teaching Oral English in China or another subject often goes into fields related to but not limited to merely being able to speak a language. I focus my classroom instruction on three aspects. The first aspect is of course English and it’s mechanics and idiosyncrasies, the second part consists of the culture of English speaking countries and global perspective. The final aspect of teaching consists of language independent speech communication skills.

Additional Experience:
I have global experience having traveled through 14 nations, 3 continents and visiting over half of the United States and Chinese Provinces. Visited many famous cities of China including Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Xian, Chendu, Guilin, Kumming and Nanjing. As of 2013, I have toured 14 countries, 30 American States and 17 Chinese provinces.

Goal:
I’ve been teaching in China for several years and during this time I have developed a refined lesson plan that covers the yearly teaching cycle. As a foreign teacher, my goal is to make every student able to communicate more fluently in English, have a deeper understanding of English culture, show that English is interesting as well as important to the future of students and finally emphasize ways to improve confidence, motivation, critical thinking and expression.

Current Status:
Currently living in China and seeking employment for Fall semester 2015. I have lived in China since 2005 except during summer holidays. I’m married to a Chinese native from Suzhou, Jiangsu.
