ESL Jobs in Korea
Hello!
My name is Rock and I am the current foreign teacher at Cha’s Academy. I have been teaching in at Cha’s English Academy since December 2013. It is probably one of the best academies I worked at since 1997.
My institute is looking for a teacher, preferably male above 35 years old that can start on the 15th of April, 2015. I know it is a bit in advance but we want to make sure you will have plenty of time to get all your pertinent documents. If already in Korea, it’s even better.
Specifications for this teaching position.
Location: Gwangyang city, Jeollanam do. This city port of 140,000 people is located in the south east part of the province. It is about 45 minutes by bus from Suncheon and 75 minutes from Gwangju, the sixth largest city in South Korea.
Salary: 2,100,000won a month plus end of contract severance pay equivalent to one month salary. By the way, my director has never been late on the salary. The owners are in their mid thirties and have studied and graduated in England so, they are fluent in English.
Airfare: Will be paid upfront from the closest international airport of your country to Gwangyang.
Students: Most students are elementary and some middle school. The curriculum is complete, simple and easy to teach and prepare. On Friday, teaching is based on activities and games. The academy is located in a new building on the 4th floor.
Schedule: Monday to Friday 03:00pm to 10:00pm. 03:55pm to 07:35pm for elementary classes and 07:50pm to 09:35pm for middle school classes. From 07:35pm to 07:50pm is dinner time and the meal is ordered form restaurants and paid by the Academy. Twice a year when the middle school grade 2 and 3 students are in public school test preparation for 2-3 weeks, I teach only elementary students and the salary is the same.
Apartment: Modern bachelor one and half room on the first floor within 5 minutes walk from the academy. Furniture includes washing machine, refrigerator, television, computer desk and chair, dresser, gas range etc… I sleep on the ondol (on the floor) but if you need a bed, the director will arrange it for you. Next to the academy is a Lotte supermarket. Banks, restaurants, bars, pharmacies and hospitals are less than 10 minutes walk from the apartment.
The apartment is located in a quiet area with a park and exercise machines between the apartment and the academy. It comes with air conditioner, free high speed internet and cable TV. The teacher only pays for electricity and gas. (I never paid more than 100,000won for a month.)
