Places to Visit in France For Romance
By:Sarah Roles

So where are the best places to visit in France for a romantic holiday?

Paris is usually the first thing that springs to mind, of course....the Eiffel Tower has set the scene for many marriage proposals!

But maybe you've already been there, done that...and want to try something new?

If you're planning a special trip like a honeymoon or anniversary, or want to simply relax, unwind, and spend some quality time together, France is hard to beat.

Here are some romantic vacation ideas to help you on your way.

Brantome, Perigord

Brantome, known as the Venice of Perigord, is a charming picture-book stone village in southwest France. Spend time admiring the beautiful old buildings, local parks and gardens, or simply sit in a cafe and watch the world go by.

Brantome has some excellent restaurants, too, including the michelin starred Moulin d'Abbaye. Farmers markets, cafes, bars and art galleries will easily fill the time.

If you want to get out and about and see some attractions, the area boasts plenty of historic chateaux, prehistoric cave art, castles and wineries.

Provence

Provence is one of the most romantic places to visit in France. The weather is warm, the pace of life slows down, the food is delicious, and there are lots of wonderful hotels in the area for relaxation and well deserved pampering.

Highlights include Les Baux, a fortified town in the heart of the Alpilles mountain range, and the quintessential provencal villages of Rousillon and Gordes.

One of the most enjoyable ways to spend a romantic holiday here is to explore the area by car, bike or foot, heading off the beaten track and enjoying the breathtaking scenery.

Riviera

The sun, sea and sand on the glamorous french riviera is a very attractive option for a romantic getaway. Although it can be very crowded during the summer months, there are still plenty of ways to find some peace and quiet with your loved one.

The Riviera is of course known for its beaches, and while tourists usually head to the famous beaches around Nice and Cannes, there are also places to relax in the sun that have more of a romantic and relaxed feel....the Cap Ferrat Peninsula being one good example.

If you enjoy history and architecture, you might like to try visiting the hilltop villages further inland. One of the most famous around here is Eze, but there are others which are lesser known, such as Mougins, Luceram and Entrevaux.

There are some wonderful options for accommodation too, that are perfect for romantic vacations. Les Rosees, a small and intimate guesthouse retreat in Mougins, is a great place to get away from it all and popular for romantic getaways.

These are just a handful of romantic places to visit in France....

Enjoy, and bonnes vacances!
