Edinburgh, the city which is considered to be the 7th largest city according to area in all of United Kingdom, also is the second biggest in Scotland following Glasgow. Edinburgh is regarded as one of the most beautiful cities of Europe and the world, as the two districts of named as " The Old Town" and "The New Town" of Edinburgh are a part of the list of UNESCO's World Heritage Site. Out of these two OldTown was basically named because this part was originally Edinburgh, but due to the rapid increase in population in OldTown, the government of that time decided to establish The New Town.

Geographically Edinburgh's location is the eastern side of Scotland. Edinburgh has a population of approximately 448,624. And the land approximately covers an area of 665 square miles.

The climatic conditions are cold in winters with heavy rain falls and the summers are not cold but cool. The winter season starts from November and remains up to March having temperature ranges from 0 to -10 degrees. The summer season is from April - October. The temperature touches 20 degrees hardly. In Edinburgh the maximum temperature was 31 degrees recorded in 1975.

Edinburgh is the city having a great culture and a very lively one too. The city hosts many events during the year out of which The Edinburgh Festival is considered as the most prestigious one.

Inside Edinburgh there are lot of museums and libraries from where people can learn about Scottish history. Among these museums The Museum of Scotland, and the RoyalMuseum, are the most prestigious sights in Scotland. Also the Museum of Edinburgh has a very attractive location and is a recommended destination for tourists.

Edinburgh's people really want to enjoy the day and night time so inside Edinburgh there are a lot of parks and theatres, as music and films are of great importance to the people of Edinburgh. Usher Hall is considered to be the most visited place as it is considered as the place for classical music. There are a number of theatres as well which broadcast and display shows 24 hours a day.

Art is also of great importance in Edinburgh as the people are great admirers of Visual Arts. This can be seen from the fact that Edinburgh possesses five big art galleries, while small ones are a low in numbers.

People of Edinburgh have a very busy and attractive night life as the young generation really like to goes out in the pubs at night time with their friends, along with pubs also there are a number of restaurants and clubs where people go and enjoy.

For children the most attractive place in Edinburgh to visit is the "Edinburgh Zoo" which is situated in Corstorphine. Edinburgh Zoo is the only zoo in all of Great Britain which also has koalas and polar bears.

In the field of sports Edinburgh has been famous for football. Two clubs which play in the Scottish premier league from Edinburgh are Hibernian and Heart of Midlothian (commonly in Scotland known as Hearts).
