Trips To Prague, Czech_Republic
By:myprague.co.uk

If you are thinking of going to Prague, then there are quite a few things you want to be aware of before booking a holiday or going travelling there for any other reason. Prague is a fantastic city with a great deal of sophistication, culture and history but it is also a fairly daunting place in some respects. Knowing where to go in Prague makes an enormous difference as it is one city where you can easily spend far too much money but if you know what you doing, it's still a bargain destination.

Capital of the Czech Republic, with a land mass which covers 200 sq miles, Prague is a rapidly expanding city, with a great range of historical architecture and historical monuments displaying the history of the Czech people. Prague has a population of just over one million - and recently became a member of the EU.

It's main airport, Ruzyne Airport, is Pragues' only international airport and is situated 10 miles northwest of the city. Regular buses leave the arrivals building and take thirty minutes to the city centre.

Prague is connected to many important world cities by several direct flights that are not too costly. Ruzyn is its international airport and is located in the west of Prague. Prague is also connected by rail and has two international train stations. Eurocity trains connect Prague to Berlin, Vienna, and Budapest. Tourists can also use the bus to reach Prague which has highway connections from all directions. Accommodations are available to suit most budgets.

Trips to Prague has turned into a popular tourist destination after the fall of the Iron Curtain. Since Prague was one of the few European cities comparatively untouched during the World Wars, most of its historic architecture has been preserved. Tourists flock to visit its ancient buildings and murals. A varied collection of architectural forms from Art Nouveau to Baroque, Renaissance, Cubist, Gothic, Neo-Classical, and ultra-modern can be seen.

If the National Museum is famous for reflecting the history of Czech Republic, the Museum of the City of Prague is a tribute to Prague city. Its chief attraction is the 20 sq ft model prepared by Antonin Langweil which depicts the city.

The city is divided into an Old Town and New Town, with plenty of interesting attractions on each side. The Old Town boasts a number of historic buildings including the Astronomical Clock, the Town Hall and the old Estate Theatre. The New Town is home to Wenceslas Square, which is a centre for many shops, stalls and restaurants. What's more, the National Museum, parks and arcades can also be found on the New Town side of Prague.

Charles Bridge is also a draw in the city, as it stretches across the river and is considered one of Prague's most beautiful attractions. The bridge is very busy during the day, where visitors can find tradesman and entertainment.
