By:Lek Boonlert

Here are the top natural attractions in Cape Town:

1) Table Mountain – Although perhaps the most obvious choice, Table Mountain remains the number one attraction in the city and even though many attempt to make the climb only a very small amount are successful. The views over the city are unbeatable from the summit and it is part of the national park with the same name.

2) Boulders Beach – This stunning beach area is home to a colony of African Penguins who live happily and successfully on the beach blissfully unaware of the many tourists who visit each day. Walkways have been built to make it easy for tourists to walk around the back of the beach and get a good view of the penguins without having a negative impact on them.

3) Chapman’s Peak – This peak is a rugged bit of coastline and sums up what many people picture when talking about the Atlantic coastal regions here. It is home to many jagged rocks and is a great place to soak up the views of Cape Town plus see a wide variety of animals and birds from whales through to sea birds.

4) Cape Point – the point is similar to Chapman’s Peak only it is larger. There is a huge lighthouse on the point that has a massive beam range of an impressive 63kms. It boasts some awesome views out to sea and is well worth seeing on a trip to Cape Town.

5) Atlantic Seaboard – This part of Cape Town is somewhat more relaxed than its feisty coast and it is often referred to as Cape Town’s Riviera. There are many top resorts here and finding a top Cape Town hotel is effortless.

Swimming is best left to the Indian Ocean areas while surfers will enjoy tackling the feisty Atlantic waves that can be as beautiful to watch as they are fierce to tackle.
