Eurostar and Its Future Plans
By:Sagar Anand

Trains are the means of transportation which can take you places, can take you at any point across the country. There are various types of trains - some are luxurious, some are superfast, some are ordinary, some are local trains, some international trains. In Europe, Eurostar is a famous train which is not just an ordinary international train but it is a superfast passenger train service. The Eurostar connects London with Paris and Brussels. Operating via the Channel Tunnel between Britain and France, it is owned by Euro tunnel. The first Eurostar train test run was done in June 1993 though UK tunnels and the opening of Eurostar took place in May 1994 and the service was launched in November 1994. The first Eurostar service ran between Waterloo International stations situated in London, Gare du Nord located in Paris and Brussels-South railway station in Brussels.

The Eurostar has won praises from all around the world and is considered as one of the best train services not only in Europe but around the globe too. Eurostar was given the award for the Best Train Company in the joint Guardian/Observer Travel Awards held in 2008.

There are a lot of developments in Eurostar services which are going on or are planned to be done in the near future. Some of which are as follows:

Regional Eurostar

Regional Eurostar are the services which are planned to operate from Paris and Brussels to United Kingdom beyond London. The plan is currently put on hold due to various arguments surrounding it.

Stanford International Station

As there are no Eurostar services at Stanford International, there are plans that there will soon be Eurostar services here. After the 2012 Olympics Games, the plan will be reviewed.

LGV Picardie

To cut short the journey of passengers travelling from Paris to Calais, LGV Picardie (which is a high speed rail line) is proposed which will run between the above mentioned places. This will help the Eurostar trains to cut their time and save up to 20 minutes on the journey which will reduce the time on London Paris journey under 2 hours.

High Speed 2

High Speed 2 is a proposed superfast railway line between London and the Midlands, located in Northern England. British Government has established a company, High Speed Two, to look after and handle the project. Once, this project is completed completely, and then only the plans to initiate Regional Eurostar will take place.

If you are planning to visit with Eurostar, then you can book your Eurostar Tickets on any of the routes between London to Paris and experience a whole new world of traveling http://www.londonparistraintickets.co.uk/cheap-eurostar-tickets.html.
