How to Travel Between Naples & Rome
By:Nicole Schmoll

Trains connect many major European cities. This makes them one of the best ways to travel throughout Europe. Trains operate from early in the morning until late at night between the two cities with direct routes, making travel by train between Naples and Rome a convenient, affordable option. Depending on whether you choose a less expensive train or more expensive option, your trip should take 1 to 2.5 hours.

Travel Between Naples and Rome by Train

Visit Trenitalia, Italy's online train reservation service and select whether you want a one-way or round trip ticket. Enter "Naples" and "Rome" into the "From" and "To" fields under the subhead "Tickets." Enter the date you want to leave and return and click "Send."

Select the route option you want from the list by clicking a bubble on the left. Selections will vary by total travel time, cost and train number. Make your selection and click "Continue."

Select the number of passengers, and decided whether you want a flexible pass which will allow multiple reservation changes up to the time of departure or whether you want a base pass which allows only one transfer. Note that if you want to gift this ticket to someone else, you can do so from this screen. Enter your selections and click "Continue."

Enter personal information. Decide whether you want to pick up your ticket or have it emailed to you.

Purchase your ticket using a major credit or debit card. If you have not registered on Trenitalia before, you can do so from the delivery page. After entering payment information, you will receive a confirmation message verifying your purchase.

Print off or pick up your ticket at the Napoli Station.
