Activities in Santa Lucia, Malta
By:Milele D

Santa Lucia is located in Malta, part of the sunny and warm Maltese Islands clustered in the Mediterranean Sea. This beautiful island is a hot spot for travelers with an eye for history and cosmopolitan flair. Named after a chapel, Santa Lucia is a small, young town filled with activities. From exploring the magnificent landscape checkered with cathedrals and foliage to eating at chic cafes, Santa Lucia is packed with things to explore.

The Chinese Garden
Malta is known for a resplendent climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. The Chinese Garden, located on the outskirts of town, is an excellent place to enjoy the lush vegetation that such a climate supports. Also known as the Garden of Serenity, dramatic displays of rock and water incorporate ancient Chinese principles of yin and yang. This garden was built in the 1990s and is a peaceful retreat for visitors and locals.

Socialize in the Centru
Malta is an island known for keeping traditions and community, and Santa Lucia is no exception. Located in a former bakery is the village's centru, or communal center. In the morning, villagers meet here to discuss religious life. In the evenings, residents gather at the bar to share drinks and laughs and to prepare for the frequent dramatic and musical events the locals hold.

Cafe Santa Lucia
After an activity-filled day, stop by Cafe Santa Lucia, a family-owned cafe in business since 1975. Browse through the glass cases filled with delicious pastries, cakes, sandwiches and confectioneries made from local traditional recipes that that are sure to delight the palate. Find these high-quality treats in locations in Attard and Rabat and consider picking up some sweet biscuits and chocolate as gifts for your family back home.
