Things to Do on a Luxury Holiday to Europe
By:David R Hughes

Visiting Europe on a luxury holiday involves so much to do, so many places to visit, and so much to see, that it can be quite daunting to plan a luxury holiday in Europe. France and Italy are so rich in history and art that tourists just get pulled into putting these two countries on top of places to visit in Europe. No visit to France is imaginable without visiting Paris. Paris, with the Seine River dividing it and the Eiffel Tower its most well known landmark, Notre Dame the famous cathedral, and the Louvre Museum with its treasure of art, are some of the famous landmarks of Paris. The advantage of being on a luxury holiday in Europe is that one has all the necessary tickets and bookings, so hours are not wasted standing in queues to ride up the lift in the Eiffel Tower or waiting to get into the Louvre.

Needless to say, the hotels are going to be the best and quality service is what one is paying for. One can dine on a boat and see Paris by night, and during the evening spend time strolling down the Champs-Elysees (with the bars and restaurants) to the famous Arc de Trompe. A visit to Paris is not complete without wining and dining at the Moulin Rouge in the Montmartre, and seeing the famous French Cancan show.

After Paris, the next stop on a luxury holiday should be Rome. The fountains and architecture of Rome are awe-inspiring, and a visit to the Vatican City becomes a must do. Who would want to miss seeing the Sistine Chapel and its famous painting by Michael Angelo? There is an air of romance in Rome that one simply cannot miss, and besides the fountains and museums and Vatican City, a tour of the Coliseum with real life gladiators is worth visiting. Next stop in Italy can be either Florence or Venice - or both! Florence again is rich in art and steeped in history, whereas the canals and gondolas of Venice have their own charm. If in France or in Florence, a day must spent visiting the wine districts, where the makers with their famous drops offer free tasting. A drive in these areas is heady and relaxing, and the wine makers friendly.

Now how to continue the luxury tour will depend on what other places you think are worth a visit. Bavaria in the south of Germany, with one of the most famous castles, the Neuschwanstein, which appears on the horizon like a castle from a fairy tale, is worth a visit. In fact, it is the castle that inspired Disney's Sleeping Beauty's castle. Linderhof, which was built by Ludwig II as a hunting lodge, is another beautiful castle that depicts French rococo style.

There are so many other historic places that can be visited in Europe as Europe is steeped in history, but it would depend on how much time is available for the luxury holiday in Europe.
