Taking A London Vacation
A London vacation can be one of the most exciting vacations you'll ever take. Regardless of how long you stay there, you'll never get to see all there is to see there. If your time in London is limited, you can't miss some of the more exciting places. Different methods of transportation are available including buses, trains, rental cars and bicycles. Touring the city on a bicycle is more fun then you'd imagine.
Great Museums in London
It seem like whatever country or city we go to on vacation, we always manage to see some very interesting museums. This is definitely the case when you travel to London, home of the British Museum. The British Museum is one of the most renowned museums in the world. Here you will find treasures and collectibles from all over the world. The British Museum has exhibits such as the Mildenhall Treasure, Rosetta Stone, Ramses II and the Elgin Marbles. The National Gallery and Portrait Gallery is another museum that you'll want to see. This gallery houses some of the most important art collections of England. If art doesn't interest you that much, check out the Natural History Museum and its large collection of natural science exhibits.
Learning About & Seeing British History
Whether you're interested in history or not everyone wants to see some historical sites when they travel to a strange country. In London, some of these historical sites are Parliament Square, the Tower of London,(home of the Crown Jewels), and Westminster Abbey. All of the kings and queens of Britain have been crowned at the royal abbey since 1066. Speaking of queens, you can't see London without seeing her home, Buckingham Palace. A great thing to watch is the changing of the guards, which happens each day.
Other Great London Spots
Even though you think you've seen all the main hot spots in London, there are other places you'll want to see while in London. One of these places is St. Paul's Cathedral. St. Paul's Cathedral is part of the London Skyline and is host to many ceremonial events in London. Sir Christopher Wren's Baroque masterpiece is also kept at St.Paul's. When you're finished with the museums and history tours, go for some real fun and check out London Eye. London Eye is not only the largest Ferris Wheel, but also offers the best view of the city. If your children are part of your London vacation, consider taking them to the London Zoo, for a treat they'll love.
