Budapest is recognized as the largest city in all of Hungary and is also the capital city of the country. The city has a major importance in Hungary not only because it is the capital city but also from the fact that it is considered as a platform for operating Hungary as it is the only industrial, commercial, and political hub.
Geographically Budapest has a covered area of about 525 square kilometers. According to history Budapest in the beginning was two cities. Both cities were located on the opposite banks of the "River Danube". The city on the right side of the river was named as "Buda" and one on the left side was called "Pest", so after these were merged the city was given the name of "Budapest". Budapest is actually located in the centre of the country.
The climatic conditions are very mild; the city also receives snow and rainfall in winters. The winter season lasts from December to February, and the summer season mostly starts from June and ends in August. In winter season the temperature mostly remains below 0 degrees.
The population of Budapest is normally dominated by the Hungarians as the percentage is above 90%. Also there are Germans and Romans who have chosen Budapest as their home.
Budapest is also rich in history and there are some places that are really worth seeing. Among these places is the Parliament building of Government which is one of the top tourist destinations. Also "Castle Hill", the great river which used to divide Buda and Pest from each other and now connects them "River Danube" are included in the list of "UNESCO World Heritage Sites".
Inside Castle Hill there are a number of churches for people to visit and also museums which represent the true picture of Hungarian history. Also the city includes buildings which seem very interesting when visited in detail. One of which is the former Royal Palace of Hungary.
There is an island named as "Margaret Island" which lies in between the two cities combined "Buda" and "Pest". Also it lies between the two famous bridges named as "Margaret Bridge" and "Ã
