Where are the best places to buy property in Spain? TheMoveChannel.com has analysed search enquiries for Spanish locations from the past 12 months.

Here are the 10 most searched-for hotspots:

Xabia is located in Alicante. It is a coastal town picturesquely sheltered between two headlands. Recently, Xabia has become a highly popular seaside resort and a market town. A historic old town and the Montgó Natural Park are added attractions.

Marbella is a well-known tourist destination. Situated in southern Spain, the town boasts beautiful beaches and an impressive archaeological heritage.

Mazarrón is in the province of Murcia in south eastern Spain. The Bay of Mazarrón is a natural haven of beaches, rocky sea beds and unspoilt coves. It is a much-frequented destination for lovers of water sports.

Torrevieja is to be found 30 miles south of Alicante. It was originally a fishing and salt-mining village. Over the past decade it has become heavily populated by Irish, German and British expatriates.

Fuengirola is also found on the sunny climes of the Costa del Sol. The town is a major tourist resort which has a medieval Moorish fortress and 8km of beaches as its main attractions.

Guardamar del Segura is an idyllic Mediterranean resort, found in southern Valencia at the mouth of the river Segura. Here tourists will find an 11km long stretch of white sand beach.

La Manga del Mar Menor is found in the Murcia region. The La Manga sandbar has the Mediterranean sea on one side and the Mar Menor lagoon on the other. It is now a major tourist resort. La Manga is also home to La Manga Stadium which hosts many football clubs during the winter.

Los Alcazares is a coastal spa town. It is situated on the west side of the Mar Menor lagoon in Murcia. The lagoon makes Los Alcazares a hugely popular water sports destination. Up to 86,000 tourists visit the resort during the summer months.

Choosing to invest in property in any of these locations may be a wise investment for this coming year. After a decade of stagnation, the property market in Spain looks set to improve, so why not strike while the iron’s hot?
