From trying for jobs in Taiwan, I'd advise your mate to forget it. Even with a real degree, all the jobs seem crap, and they only want foreigners at kindergartens/TC's. I'd only go to taiwan if i could get an editing or public school job.

At his age he should go home and get government help, a job doing anything, and build up his government pension and NI. Pointless to stay in Guangxi in that situation imho. I wish him luck though!
