would a speech pathologist (therapist) be useful? - Teachers Discussion

Hello, I'm interested in gaining some experience working overseas as an ESL teacher. I've heard about this from a friend and it sounded interesting.
In about a year I should be recieveing my masters degree to become a speech language pathologist (SPL), or speech therapy. Since I have some training in how to teach language (albeit to native speakers) I think that I could do fairly well teaching ESL.
I'd only like to do it for a year or two, and then move back to the states and begin work as an SPL in America.
Does this sound like a good idea? Have any of you heard of such a scenario? I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong forum.
