I think the reason why the Polish non-native speaker of English was preferred is due to his European look while the OP in this thread does not have a European look. That is what I infer from the respective post.

Unfortunately,I have to agree with you.I say unfortunately because it's just one of the not insignificant number of instances of racism that I've been unfortunate enough to come across here within EFL here in China.
