Can anyone tell me whether a school Principal can apply a new rule to the effect that teachers are "forbidden" to sit down at any time during their classes and will be subjected to a rising scale of fines if "caught" sitting down.
Does not such a rule constitute a change of contract?
In any case can fines be imposed in such a way?
Does anyone have any recommendations as to how to deal with this? I have worked at the school for over a year and worked in China for well over five years. I have refused to sign an acceptance paper for this new rule and if there is any major issue taken over it, I propose to refer the matter to the PSB for arbitration. I am in any event leaving the school of my own free will in six weeks time so you may suggest I should grin and bear it, but I disagree with the principle of trying to interfere with teachers' techniques for no other reason than that they think they can.
Any sensible advice will be appreciated
