Hi,

I am looking at this site http://upodn.com/phun.asp to get the phonetics for many words. I have a basic question: What is the difference between the IPA and the American options? Also, I am looking at a children's book "New Concept English" which uses the British style of speech. The phonetics I get from the book are different from the IPA or American. Can someone shed some light?
