In response to Yinchuan Aston & wendy_h80 (Wendy)

People who can think soon realize that the object of Aston is line their pockets ASAP while picking yours through no pay for over time, giving you terrible apartments, double charging you for utilities, not letting you take your paid holidays.

The real problem is people accepting such treatment when you get right down to it. If people didn't, Aston wouldn't be able to continue to get away with it. Seems to me that Aston is mostly newbies who are teaching their first year in China, and don't know any better. There is a never ending cycle of such people, always coming, and then going when they have such an awful experience, leaving way for the next batch of newbies that don't know any better. As long as this cycle continues, things will stay status quo, and "everyone" not just newbies, will be subject to such treatment.

Information is always the answer to such issues, however sadly westerners are far more trusting than they should be, and far less shrewd then they need to be. They readily accept what they are told because it's in a contract, and we westerners have a far different view of contracts then Chinese. We accept too often on face value what others more worldly would question, and that's part of the problem. The other part is that this trust leads to people "not" doing their due diligence, meaning they don't research or look deeper into what they are getting into. It's only after wards that they see, and by then it's too late. Putting all of their mistreatment down to simple cultural difference, with a fear of rocking the boat, and being left adrift in a foreign land, most newbies take it until the end of their contract, never to return. No worries, there's a boat load of people waiting to take their place, all just as uninformed as the people now leaving used to be.

Information is the key, and sadly, people on average just don't look deeply enough into working over seas, if they did, we'd have far less complaints I think, and a lot more employers who would not be able to get away with their unscrupulous practices.

That's life though, so for now, just have to live with it, and put out as much information continually as is possible, so it will be visible and readily available to those who want to find it.
